Not overly touristy, Holguin offers a different perspective on Cuban life, standing as a major city that doesn't seek to commercialize its past or cover itself in all inclusive resorts.

Change things up with these side-trips from Holguin: Gibara (Bateria de Fernando VII & Museo de Historia Natural), Las Guanas Eco-Archaeologic Trail (in Guardalavaca) and Casa Natal De Carlos Manuel De Cespedes (in Bayamo). There's lots more to do: walk around Parque Calixto Garcia, stroll through Playa Esmeralda, make a trip to Plaza de La Marqueta, and take some stellar pictures from Hill of the Cross (Loma de la Cruz).

To see ratings and more tourist information, refer to the Holguin road trip site.
