City of Magic

A city of technology and industry, Turin is in northwestern Italy, a one-hour drive from the French border and slightly more than that from the Mediterranean Sea.
Reggia di Venaria Reale and Forte di Bard are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Visit Sacra di San Michele and Basilica of Superga for their historical value. Change things up with a short trip to Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi in Stupinigi (about 34 minutes away). There's lots more to do: get engrossed in the history at Museo Egizio, don't miss a visit to Piazza San Carlo, examine the collection at Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile, and explore the different monuments and memorials at Le Tombe Reali.

To find other places to visit, reviews, maps, and other tourist information, use the Turin road trip planning site.

If you are flying in from Switzerland, the closest major aiports are Malpensa International Airport, Turin Airport and Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport. In August, daytime highs in Turin are 28°C, while nighttime lows are 20°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 4th (Sun) so you can travel back home.
