City of Magic

A city of technology and industry, Turin is in northwestern Italy, a one-hour drive from the French border and slightly more than that from the Mediterranean Sea.
Reggia di Venaria Reale and Museo Egizio are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Visit Sacra di San Michele and Palazzo Reale for their historical value. Venture out of the city with trips to Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi (in Stupinigi) and Forte di Bard (in Bard). There's lots more to do: examine the collection at Museo Nazionale del Cinema, don't miss a visit to Piazza San Carlo, stroll the grounds of Le Tombe Reali, and take some stellar pictures from Basilica of Superga.

To find other places to visit, reviews, maps, and other tourist information, use the Turin road trip planning site.

If you are flying in from Switzerland, the closest major aiports are Malpensa International Airport, Turin Airport and Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport. In August, daytime highs in Turin are 28°C, while nighttime lows are 20°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 4th (Sun) so you can travel back home.
