A city of technology and industry, Turin is in northwestern Italy, a one-hour drive from the French border and slightly more than that from the Mediterranean Sea.
Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile and Basilica of Superga are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Visit Reggia di Venaria Reale and Sacra di San Michele for their historical value. Venture out of the city with trips to Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi (in Stupinigi) and Forte di Bard (in Bard). And it doesn't end there: admire the masterpieces at Museo Egizio, steep yourself in history at Duomo di Torino e Cappella della Sacra Sindone, don't miss a visit to Piazza San Carlo, and admire the striking features of Palazzo Reale.

If you are flying in from Switzerland, the closest major aiports are Malpensa International Airport, Turin Airport and Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport. In August in Turin, expect temperatures between 28°C during the day and 20°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel back home.
