City of Magic

A city of technology and industry, Turin is in northwestern Italy, a one-hour drive from the French border and slightly more than that from the Mediterranean Sea.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Sacro Monte di Orta and Castello di Issogne. Get some historical perspective at Castello e Parco di Masino and Castello Reale di Sarre. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Turin: Serralunga d'Alba (Castello di Serralunga d'Alba & Fontanafredda), Mondovicino Outlet Village (in Mondovi) and Santuario Basilica di Montis Regalis (in Vicoforte). Spend the 20th (Wed) exploring nature at Parco Regionale del Mont Avic. Next up on the itinerary: steep yourself in history at Parco della Rocca Borromea, see the interesting displays at Museo Nazionale del Cinema, delve into the distant past at Criptoportico Forense, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Basilica di Maria Ausiliatrice.

For traveler tips, where to stay, and tourist information, go to the Turin online day trip planner.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiports are Malpensa International Airport, Turin Airport and Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport. In August in Turin, expect temperatures between 76°F during the day and 64°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 20th (Wed) to allow time to travel back home.
