While often overshadowed by the Amalfi Coast's array of quaint villages, Salerno has become one of the region's main areas for culture and entertainment, while remaining relatively unmarked by tourism.
Relax by the water at Spiaggia di castiglione and Spiaggia Lannio. Get some cultural insight at Pompeii Archaeological Park and Sol’Art Ceramiche. Take a break from Salerno with a short trip to Paestum Ruins in Paestum, about 50 minutes away. There's lots more to do: learn about winemaking at Le Vigne di Raito, browse for treasures at Libreria Antiquaria Vecchi Libri, stroll through Spiaggia di Marina d'Albori, and explore the different monuments and memorials at Salerno War Cemetery.

You can take a train from Rome to Salerno in 2 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. While traveling from Rome, expect a bit cooler days and somewhat warmer nights in Salerno, ranging from highs of 79°F to lows of 72°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Mon) so you can catch the ferry to Positano.

Often referred to as the gem of the Amalfi Coast, Positano remains one of southern Italy's most sought-after vacation locales, thanks to its hillside location and picturesque, pastel buildings.
Visit Fornillo and Lido di Ravello for some beach relaxation. Do some cultural sightseeing at Ceramiche D'Arte Pascal and Duomo di Sant'Andrea. Explore Positano's surroundings by going to Ravello (Ceramiche d'Arte Carmela, Duomo di Ravello, &more) and Valle delle Ferriere (in Amalfi).
