In many ways the most modern of Italian cities, Milan is a busy, elegant metropolis with an impressive list of grand palaces, fine churches, and important museums.
Kick off your visit on the 19th (Sun): admire the landmark architecture of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, then pause for some serene contemplation at Duomo di Milano, and then enjoy some music at La Casa Maledetta. On the 20th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: see the interesting displays at Tempio Civico della Beata Vergine Incoronata, pause for some serene contemplation at Chiesa di San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore, and then step into the grandiose world of Castello Sforzesco.

You'll find plenty of places to visit near Venice: Padua (Scrovegni Chapel & Basilica of St. Anthony). There's lots more to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Canal Grande, contemplate the long history of Scala dei Giganti di Palazzo Ducale, snap pictures at Ponte dei Sospiri, and see the interesting displays at Doge's Palace.
