Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Start off your visit on the 8th (Mon): look for all kinds of wild species at Riserva Naturale Ca' Roman and then kick back and relax at Bagni Vianello. Here are some ideas for day two: tour the pleasant surroundings at Bagni Sirena and then enjoy the sand and surf at Bagni Nuova Marina Sirenella.

Verona to Venice is an approximately 1.5-hour bus ride. You can also drive; or take a shuttle. July in Venice sees daily highs of 36°C and lows of 22°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 10th (Wed) early enough to go by car to Bologna.
