Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Get some historical perspective at Colosseum and Piazza Navona. Pantheon and Vatican Museums are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get out of town with these interesting Rome side-trips: Duomo di Orvieto (in Orvieto) and Civita di Bagnoregio (in Civita di Bagnoregio). There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of St. Peter's Basilica, make a trip to Roman Forum, pause for some serene contemplation at Arcibasilica di San Giovanni in Laterano, and explore the ancient world of Forum of Augustus.

Considered a cultural, artistic, and architectural jewel of Italy, Florence is the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.
Step off the beaten path and head to Historic Centre of San Gimignano and Battistero. Get some cultural insight at Gallerie Degli Uffizi and Academy Of Florence Art Gallery. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Florence: Pisa (Duomo di Pisa & Camposanto) and Abbazia di San Galgano (in Chiusdino). There's still lots to do: get great views at Basilica San Miniato al Monte, appreciate the extensive heritage of Via di San Niccolo, admire the striking features of Loggia dei Lanzi, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore.

Get a sense of the local culture at Piazza San Marco and Scrovegni Chapel. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Doge's Palace and Castello Estense. Step out of Venice to go to Padua and see Basilica di Sant’Antonio, which is approximately 38 minutes away.
