In many ways the most modern of Italian cities, Milan is a busy, elegant metropolis with an impressive list of grand palaces, fine churches, and important museums.
Explore hidden gems such as Lake Orta and Castello di Rivalta. Your inner history buff will appreciate Duomo di Milano and Chiesa di San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore. Venture out of the city with trips to Cathedral of Cremona (in Cremona), Spiaggia di Onno (in Oliveto Lario) and Gropparello Castle - Fairy Tales Park (in Gropparello). Spend the 4th (Thu) on two wheels at Anything But Work. There's much more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, steep yourself in history at Sacro Monte di Orta, see the interesting displays at Castello Sforzesco, and get to know the fascinating history of Piazza del Duomo.
