In many ways the most modern of Italian cities, Milan is a busy, elegant metropolis with an impressive list of grand palaces, fine churches, and important museums.
Kids will enjoy Duomo di Milano and Castello Sforzesco. There's still lots to do: admire the landmark architecture of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, walk around Parco Sempione, see the interesting displays at INAF Brera Astronomical Observatory, and engage your brain at Museo Della Scienza E Della Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci.
