Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Your list of things to see and do now includes Monumental Cemetery of the Capuchin Brothers, Santa Maria della Vittoria, Piazza del Popolo, and other attractions. Pantheon and Galleria Borghese are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Piazza Navona and Church of St. Louis of the French. There's much more to do: admire the local landmark of Trevi Fountain, contemplate the long history of Campo de' Fiori, and take a stroll through Via del Corso.

Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
On the 1st (Sat), appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza San Marco, snap pictures at Ponte dei Sospiri, explore the galleries of Doge's Palace, then admire the landmark architecture of Basilica di San Marco, then explore the activities along Canal Grande, and finally hunt for treasures at Mercati di Rialto.
