Considered a cultural, artistic, and architectural jewel of Italy, Florence is the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.
Visit Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and Basilica of Santa Croce for their historical value. Explore hidden gems such as Pitti Palace and Centro Storico di Siena. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Florence: Siena (Duomo di Siena & Torre del Mangia) and Castello di Monteriggioni (in Monteriggioni). In many ways the most modern of Italian cities, Milan is a busy, elegant metropolis with an impressive list of grand palaces, fine churches, and important museums.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Piazza di Santa Maria delle Grazie, 2 and Leolandia. Museum-lovers will get to explore Basilica di Sant'Ambrogio and Pinacoteca Ambrosiana. Change things up with these side-trips from Milan: Villa del Balbianello (in Tremezzina), Cathedral of Como (Duomo) (in Como) and Santuario Madonna del Soccorso (in Ossuccio). Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Boccadasse and Passeggiata Anita Garibaldi a Nervi. Your inner history buff will appreciate Via Giuseppe Garibaldi and Cattedrale di San Lorenzo - Duomo di Genova.
