Ostia Antica is a large archeological site, close to the modern suburb of Ostia, that was the location of the harbour city of ancient Rome, which is approximately 30km to the northeast. Get out of town with these interesting Ostia Antica side-trips: Santuario Madonna delle Grazie (in Velletri), Sermoneta (Castello Caetani, Museo C’era Una Volta, &more) and Il Centro Storico (in Bassiano). There's lots more to do: delve into the distant past at Parco Archeologico di Ostia Antica, appreciate the extensive heritage of Isola Pedonale Lido di Ostia, explore the different monuments and memorials at Sicily Rome American Cemetery and Memorial, and make a trip to Torre Astura.
