South Tyrol's capital, Bolzano, has been named the Italian city with the highest quality of life.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology and BZ '18-'45: Un monumento, una citta, due dittature. Step off the beaten path and head to Touriseum and Freeride Ciampinoi. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Bolzano: Castello Rametz - Wine Museum (in Merano), Sankt Kathrein (in Avelengo) and Selva di Val Gardena (Gardena Pass & Pista da fondo Selva Gardena - Vallunga). There's much more to do: get outside with Seceda, hike along Il Salto/ Salten, stop by Piazza delle Erbe, and pause for some serene contemplation at Chiesa dei Domenicani.

Prague, Czech Republic to Bolzano is an approximately 7-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of flight, bus, and train. Traveling from Prague in September, you will find days in Bolzano are a bit warmer (29°C), and nights are about the same (15°C). On the 24th (Thu), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Trento.
