Once the most important harbor in the Mediterranean Sea, Genoa has a long history as a rich and powerful trade center in northern Italy.
Kick off your visit on the 23rd (Fri): enjoy the sand and surf at Baia del Silenzio, pause for some serene contemplation at Parrocchia Di San Martino, and then wander the streets of Boccadasse. Made up of five picturesque towns on the Ligurian coast, Cinque Terre is Italy's answer to the French Riviera.
Kick off your visit on the 25th (Sun): enjoy the sand and surf at Levanto Beach, then hike along Footpath Monterosso - Vernazza, and then take a stroll around Vernazza. Keep things going the next day: stroll through Sun Beach and then stroll through Pista Ciclopedonale Levanto - Framura.

Take a train from Genoa to Cinque Terre in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect little chillier evenings in Cinque Terre when traveling from Genoa in August, with lows around 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Mon) to allow enough time to drive to Florence.
