A monumental church in the center of Verona, Basilica di Santa Anastasia is notable for the sculptures both inside and out. The four columns over the high altar display the coat of arms of Castelbarco of Trento, a family who contributed to the building of the church. The funerary monument to Cortesia is one of the renowned sculptures. It portrays the mounted figure of Cortesia holding a commanding wand in front of the sarcophagus. The chapel houses a late Gothic fresco of St. George and the Princess, one of Pisanello's main works, as well as Wilhelm von Bibra's grave. Outside the church, a small, seated sculpture of a hunchback attracts attention because of its expressive face. Basilica di Santa Anastasia Reviews
A nice temple and worths visiting. You can admire the architecture within the temple and feel something unique. more »
We were all churched out by the time we hit Verona and so we did not enter and instead enjoyed a gelato on the steps. From the photos here we really should have gone inside and seen what it had to... more »
Excellent church that is free to enter. We walked around here for about 25 minutes. The architecture is amazing with old murals and paintings all around. The floor is also almost as good as the roof to admire as all the individual Chapels have different patterns
When you enter the church and look up at the ceiling, you can have a breathtaking view. The stained glass windows are wonderful, and the temple's dimensions are impressive. It is worth visiting if you buy the combined entrance, which will bring even more temples to visit.
