  • If the School is always seen in its exterior, inside it deserves to be admired on the first floor for a cycle of frescoes unknown even to Venetians. Very little information can be found on them, and probably tells the story of the protector of the cobblers San Aniano, also represented in the external bezel, and the activities that they carried out.

  • A building that was home to the Art of the Calegheri (the shoemakers) and is located in Campo Tomà, in the Sestiere of St. Paul, just in front of the Church of St. Tomà. Founded in 1383, under the patronage of St. Aniano, cobbler healed and converted by St. Mark, the art brought together the 'calegheri', shoe and boots manufacturers, and the 'zavaters' who made slippers and hooves and, gathered more than 1200 people, distributed in 350 Shops. The building has a brick hut facade with a large portal from the typical Venetian arched portal, culminating with a fjord, which houses a bas-relief (with remnants of polychrome painting) representing St. Mark healing St. Aniano; on the trabeation three depictions of shoes and commemorative inscriptions; at the top a 13th-century bas-relief depicting Our Lady of Mercy adored by the brethren, which was placed here, in 1928, taking it from the downed Church of the Servants. According to some documents of confiscation of Napoleonic troops, it appears that the School contained at least 12 valuable paintings, to date only traces of 15th century frescoes remain.
