Palazzo Grassi, Venice

History unfolds at Palazzo Grassi, a peach-colored 18th-century palace that sits along Venice's Grand Canal. Its academic Classical architecture starkly contrasts with the Byzantine Romanesque and Baroque Venetian styles of the neighboring palaces, a testament to its 1772 completion, which made it a latecomer among palaces on the canal. It features a formal façade of white marble and lacks the lower mercantile openings of its counterparts. The building has served as an art gallery since its restoration in 1983, currently housing the personal art collection of François Pinault, a contemporary art enthusiast. While the building's historical significance is preserved in its exterior, the interior has been completely renovated in a modern design. Take a tour of the building to see the ever-changing contemporary displays exhibited over three floors of the former palace. • This palace, whose origin dates back to the 18th century, is at the centre of VENICE, along the GRAND CANAL. He belonged to the GRASSI family, then to a commercial company, then to M AGNELLI (Fiat) and then to a Venetian company, in which Mr. François PINAULT participates; The last renovation was carried out by a Japanese architect. We appreciated among other things: - the location of the palace in the centre of VENICE - the layout of more than 30 rooms and about 5000 m2 - the reception of staff and advice to discover this palai - the personal collection of M PINAULT: Andy WARHOL, Charles RAY, Bernard FRI ZE and many others like RUDOLF STINGEL - the possible comparison by lovers of very different art styles. A nice visit for art lovers. To advise in this beautiful city threatened by the acqua alta !!!
