  • We’ve found our Venice hotel! We came last year for a day and fell in love with the city so wanted to return for longer. We researched hotels on the water and this place came up in several searches. W...  more »
  • The building dates back to 1568, overlooking the Grand Canal with the picturesque Rio San Polo, close to the prestigious palazzo Pisani Moretta covering the small portion, unadorned with two mullioned Windows. There is a fine neo-Renaissance façade overlooking rio, very small, almost insignificant were it not for the large terrace, the façade overlooking the Grand Canal, unadorned has just two Lancet Windows on each floor, which disfigure next to contiguous palazzo Pisani Moretta. On the rio long we admire the many elements that make elegant facade, the entrance portal, which bears as a keystone of the mask carved with the head of the Prophet Daniel, dominated in the two main floors by two four-light, with the loggia del primo piano " noble "higher than the second. In the past and, until the end of the 19th century the building was known to house inside a major private art gallery that included a hundred canvases including ben 17 works by Titian, Giorgione, Bellini, Rubens, Guido Reni, Palma il vecchio, unfortunately in his time sold to the Tsar of Russia, today visible at the Hermitage. Today we can admire in the second main floor, private mansion of the counts Loredan (not open to the public but only to individual private visits) the paintings of the portego, stucco work and decorations-dance above the doors--made by Vincenzo Guarana, son of the more famous Jacopo. The first floor which houses the Centro Tedesco di studi veneziani keeps precious original decorations, as well as a series of portraits of dogi timber framed, it should be remembered that the family Barbarigo expressed two Doges in the 15th century, which were brothers, but especially the "Captain de mar" Augustine Commander at the battle of Lepanto, a Saint and Cardinals.
