Big disappointment. While the websites announce it opened, when we arrive in front of the Museum, a note on the door announced only Italian that the Museum is closed for renovations. No date mentioned reopening. And icing on the cake: a poster at the door announces a current exhibition. Must be done!View original -

Central to two steps from the ponte Dei Sospiri and the ponte della Canonica, prepared under the auspices of the Patriarch of Venice by Pope Albino Luciani for temporary events in addition to the Permanent Collections. It shows the most beautiful and peaceful Romanesque cloister in Venice. Although the Museum upstairs has no sufficient labelling it seems well provided and good enough for specialists. It is very agreable however to look at. The rooms of the museum preserving furnishings, vestments, sculptures and paintings from the suppression of the Venetian churches and convents, presents one of the richest and oldest collections of sacred silverware composed of over 200 liturgical objects of striking beauty, dating from the thirteenth to the twenty-first century, a collection of canvases of Tintoretto, Palma il Giovane, Gregorio Lazzarini, Luca Giordano, Giannantonio Pellegrini, plus a rich presence of wooden sculptures and a collection of statues of dressed Madonnas. The Diocesan Museum is located behind the Basilica of San Marco and is easily accessible from both the Piazza San Marco and Riva degli Schiavoni, passing through San Zaccaria and Campo Santi Filippo e Giacomo. — C8MR+V8 Venezia, ITALIA
