Campo del Ghetto, Venice

4.4
#3 of 11 in Neighborhoods in Venice
Dating back to the early 16th century, Campo del Ghetto may be the first Jewish ghetto established in the world--the word "ghetto" comes from this place. Although many of the approximately 500 Venetian Jews live elsewhere in the town, they still come here for religious services and celebrations. While in the area, you can see the small but informative Jewish Museum, see a bronze holocaust memorial, and grab a bite at a kosher restaurant. • A corner off from mass tourism omnipresent in Venice. A quiet corner where you can see, think and reflect. Businesses were very characteristic and interesting characters with which to interact. a pleasant interlude cultural seeds in one of the few corners of Venice survivors to mass tourism.

  • The square where you are now is full of all kinds of houses that seem strung together. A variety of colors and here is also the Jewish museum. There are also wall plates of the history and the tribulation. Despite the rust is there anywhere to do anything. Children play, people run the various buildings, birds flying around and there are some benches to all this.
