Campiello dell'Angaran Reviews
Una passeggiata , peraltro in una zona centrale del sestiere Dorsoduro , nei pressi di campo San Pantalon ci ha fatto entrare in un luogo nuovo , da scoprire con interesse per almeno due motivi . E' i... more »A walk, however in a central area of the Dorsoduro sestiere, near San Pantalon field let us into a new place, to be discovered with interest for at least two reasons. It is in fact clearly visible, walled on the facade of a private house, a marble round (of fine "Greek marble) depicting an emperor of the Byzantine era, of which the origin and uncertain exact era - however placeable from the 11th to the 13th century. The figure is undoubtedly identified in a Roman emperor of the east, who carries in his hand the insignia of power (the globe with the cross and the labaro). According to Venetian tradition, it was the Byzantine emperor Leo IV who reigned since 886 A.D., who adorned the strong Mongioja of Acre, won by Lorenzo Tiepolo in 1256. A second and, additional element of interest is the ancient underdoor that leads from here to the Paruta Court which, in turn, is an inner court that presents a portic of laphate columns, with its particular charm.
Un po' infrattato nelle adiacenze di campo San Pantalon, il piccolo campiello ospita nientemeno che un medaglione marmoreo del IX secolo, raffigurante uno ieratico imperatore bizantino che regge ancor... more »A little infrattato in the vicinity of campo San Pantalon, the small square hosts no less than a marble medallion of the 9th century, depicting a hieratic Byzantine Emperor that still holds firmly in their own hands the insignia of power: you don't know whether to manifattura veneziana or, more likely, spoils of the Fourth Crusade in the 13th century or, like many marble inserts and beyond, another troop of Venice in the Orient. Great point of view to steal a glimpse of the Church of San Pantalon and its campanile unusual angle, is closed by beautiful railings and wrought iron gates on other accesses to internal and private places which might otherwise unfortunately find nocturnal and diurnal unwanted visitors.
