Ca' d'Oro, Venice

Admire the historical grandeur of Venice combined with an impressive collection of artwork at Ca' d'Oro. The magnificent Gothic palace was built in the 15th century as home to the influential Contarini family. It remained in private hands until the early 20th century, when its last owner, an avid art collector named Giorgio Franchetti, transferred it to the Italian state. A great architectural monument, the palace still houses Franchetti's collection, which includes the works of artists such as Titian, Jan van Eyck, and Anthony van Dyck. You'll find guided tours of the palace in different languages both for groups and individual visitors, but you'll want to book them in advance. • The palace in poor condition was bought by Giorgio Franchetti and restored it according to the drawings of the 15th century. Filled it with his personal collection of works of art collected during his lifetime and donated it to Italy in 1916 The building since 1927 is used as a museum as the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti Franchetti Collection was supplemented by state collections bronze and sculptures, as well as numerous Venetian and Flemish paintings. Look on the Internet articles about the palace and about Giorgio Franchetti. There are always few such people

  • One of the most famous Venetian palaces overlooking the grand Canal. It takes its name from the fact that originally several parts of the façade were covered with gold; The browning has now disappeared like the polychromatic that characterized it. The history of the palace begins in ' 400 and you have worked in contemporary Venetian and Lombard schools. After the first owner, the Contarini family, there were several owners until the purchase by the Baron Giorgio Tronchetti who, after having restored it has placed ILO works of art wanting to make a museum. From 1927 the Cà d0Oro is the site of the art gallery that bears its name. It is considered an authentic jewel even if the façade denotes a certain asymmetry between the left side with three orders of arches and loggings and the right one with a marble cladding; The architectural spectacle is communqueinsured.

  • One of the most beautiful palaces in Venice!
  • Outstanding palace (and nice museum) by the same architect which designed the Ducal Palace. Free in the first Sunday of the month.
