  • Well-maintained square, which overlooks various historic Venetian-style palaces, is the largest field in the city, second only to St. Mark's Square, and takes its name from the St. Polo's Rectory Church overlooking it with the apse. Originally used as pasture and cultivation, in 1493, it was paved and equipped, in the center, with a well becoming a market place and fairs. In the 1600s, it became the home of the markets of the poor (initially made in St. Mark's Square) and gradually turned into a theater for public parties and games, until 1611, when, as evidenced by the plaque placed on the Church, all kinds of games were banned in the field. market. It is here that, in 1548, Lorenzino de' Medici was stabbed by hitmen sent by Cosimo de' Medici.

  • The beautiful and large square is located in the district of San Polo. It is surrounded by an ensemble of palazzis. Not everyone is cleaned out, but that's what makes it so charming. There are a few trees under which benches in the shade invite to sit. But best of all, there were hardly any people there. So you can relax for a few minutes and fill up your bottle at the drinking water fountain and wash your face. In the beautiful city I liked the place very much.
