  • It is the second largest square in Venice, behind St. Mark's Square. Located next to the Church of San Polo. It has a very large and striking well in the center. It is a popular place during carnivals, also used for outdoor concerts and screenings during the film festival.

  • Well-maintained square, which overlooks various historic Venetian-style palaces, is the largest field in the city, second only to St. Mark's Square, and takes its name from the St. Polo's Rectory Church overlooking it with the apse. Originally used as pasture and cultivation, in 1493, it was paved and equipped, in the center, with a well becoming a market place and fairs. In the 1600s, it became the home of the markets of the poor (initially made in St. Mark's Square) and gradually turned into a theater for public parties and games, until 1611, when, as evidenced by the plaque placed on the Church, all kinds of games were banned in the field. market. It is here that, in 1548, Lorenzino de' Medici was stabbed by hitmen sent by Cosimo de' Medici.

  • It is one of the best places I have ever visited. Car free city. You can just walk or take a ride in a boat. Houses are all between rivers and human bridges. You can take a ride in such boats but will cost you approx 80 to 100€ the ride which is expensive but should be done once in a lifetime in family or in couple.
  • A lot of buildings need renovation. It's nice having seen Venice once, begging part of a vibrant atmosphere I think everyone should have seen once. Nowadays I great fear it's all about the business and exploiting the true nature of this town. Hope it's getting conserved so future generations can profit.
