Reggia di Venaria Reale, Venaria Reale

#1 of 9 in Things to do in Venaria Reale
Explore Reggia di Venaria Reale, a 17th-century palace built for Charles Emmanuel II as a base for his hunting expeditions. History had taken its toll here; the structure only opened to the public in 2007 after one of the European Union's largest cultural restoration projects. Wander through the palace's permanent exhibit, Theater of History and Magnificence, which takes you through some of the most impressive rooms. Begin in the 17th-century Hall of Diana, continue through to the Great Gallery, and then move on to the Church of St. Hubert. The accompanying soundtrack by Brian Eno and the multimedia installations on court life make this an informative and atmospheric walk. Stretch your legs in the palace's 50 hectares (123.5 acres) of gardens. You'll find cafes, restaurants and a bookshop on site. • Sunday morning, cold but no rain. In the queue for the ticket to visit the Royal Palace for over half an hour! Of 7 cases available only 3 in business and in addition would be available because this. I can see it. It is absurd. I am sure the Palace will be spectacular but it really starts badly, very badly.

  • A journey through the history not only of a dynasty, the House of Savoy, but also of our nation. Huge, fascinating and full of surprises! The Royal residences of Savoy are our precious treasure!

  • The building is very impressive from the outside and the gardens would have been amazing had we not been visiting in the winter. The interior however was quite bare and there was often modern touches that sort of ruined the feel of the room. The palace in Turin is much more worth your time. If you're not there during nice weather I'd say you can skip this due to the distance from the city and the lacking interior
  • La Venaria Reale is one of the largest palaces in the world. It's a former royal residence located in Turin, Italy. The scale of the palace & it's garden are simply jaw-dropping. The artworks & carvings done the walls and the ceilings are treat to the eyes. It's listed as one of the world heritage by UNESCO.
