Torino Porta Susa is a railway station in Turin, northern Italy; it is the second busiest mainline station in the city, after Torino Porta Nuova. It is located in Corso Inghilterra.HistoryThe station was built in 1868 during the expansion of the city towards the west. Trains between Torino Porta Nuova and Milan stop at the station, including TGV services between Paris and Milan and other services using the Turin–Milan high-speed line.ReconstructionIn April 2006, reconstruction of the station began in conjunction with the Turin Passante regional railway. This involved quadrupling of the number of tracks that run through central Turin. At Porta Susa station, the line was widened to six tracks with new platforms being built beneath the thoroughfare Corso Inghilterra. A 300-metre long, 19-metre high glass and steel structure has been built above the tracks to create a new station, which is intended to become Turin's main hub of urban, regional and international rail traffic. The project was developed by the Paris-based studio, Silvio d'Ascia Architecture, in collaboration with AREP and Agostino Magnaghi, after the team had won an international competition. The station was inaugurated on 14 January 2013 by Prime Minister Mario Monti. The total cost — estimated at €65 million — was borne entirely by the rail network operator, Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). Plans for the reconstruction project also included a 100-metre high office tower for the Italian State Railways, Ferrovie dello Stato. To visit Torino Porta Susa on your holiday in Turin, and find out what else Turin has to offer, use our Turin trip itinerary maker .
Torino Porta Susa Reviews
Premetto che si tratta della vecchia stazione e non di quella dell'Alta Velocità. L'edificio è di fine '800 ed è piuttosto piccolo per essere stata la seconda stazione della città. Adesso dopo alcuni ... more »It is the old station and not the High Speed station. The building is from the late 1800s and is quite small to have been the second station in the city. Now after a few attempts at relocation it is in a state of almost abandonment. There is talk of building a hotel to restore its proper dignity as it is by no means a bad building.
Premettiamo che la stazione AV ha una sua pagina separata e che quindi qui si parla della stazione storica. Ma l'area di Porta Susa non doveva essere il biglietto da visita di Torino per le "migliaia ... more »We assume that the AV station has its own separate page and that therefore here we talk about the historical station. But wasn't the Porta Susa area supposed to be the calling card in Turin for the "thousands of tourists from all over the world" who come to the city? The Intesa skyscraper - Sao Paulo, the AV station, the great roundabout with Punt and Mes, and so far we are there, but it is enough that the "thousands of tourists from all over the world" , or simply any of us will look at the manufactured travelers of the old station to have an i really bad pressure: written on the walls, vegetation that has put roots, walls that crumble, transennials, in short degradation. For a while the former station hosted a market, but it lasted a moment. If we do not intervene quickly a piece of Turin's history will soon become a ruin.
