  • Like several other Italian art Academis, Torinos Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti has a pinacotek with public access. The Academy of Fine Arts has existed since the 1600 century, and the Pinacoteket was opened in 1837. The collection builds primarily on donations from the Archbishop Vincenzo Maria Mossi di Morano (1752 – 1829), who gave more than two hundred paintings to the academy, and King Carlo Alberto of Savoy (1798 – 1849), named by the Academy. The little Pinacotek has about nine exhibition spaces. The best works are photos of Francesco Raibolini (Il Francia), Felippo Lippi, Bernadino Lanino, Martin Heemskerck, Anton Maria Piola, Donemico Piola, Bernardo Castello, Giovanni Battista Carlone, Giuglielmo Caccia (Il Moncalvo), Bartolomeo Cavarozzi, Giovanni Battista Brambilla, Adam Willaerts, Cornelis de Wael, Herman Saftleven, Francesco Zuccarelli and Guido Reni (Kopi) and Giovan Pietro Rizzoli known as Il Giampetrino, as Pinacoteket has two works by: Natività and Cristo Deriso/Birth and – The humiliation of Christ. Unfortunately, both of these wonderful pictures are hanging with very little space in front of them, and with electric light which dazzs into the canvass. Mention must also be made of a series of images with motifs from Venezia by an unknown artist called Maestro Dell Vedute dell'Accademia Albertina, images that are motivationally in lineage with the famous works of Antnio Canaletto, Bernardo Bellotto and Francesco Guardi. If you are interested in the older visual arts, it is ideal to visit the Pinacoteca dell'Accademia Albertina while staying in Turin.
