Although a monument to the worthy man, and a nice tribute, the style of the figure is really different from anything which surrounds it and this make it look quite odd. more »
The imposing monument in castle square celebrates the never defeated Emmanuel Filiberto during the Great War and the soldiers at his side have a precise meaning. Mistakenly believe, it is not a moment in the memory of the fallen! The large structure is dedicated to the "inithic leader of the third army" and its soldiers who, arranged on the sides of the large boxes, with robes and weapons evoke loyalty to the homeland, faith in the duke and the Great War. On the other hand, the client's demands were clear: to praise the figure of the duke and to evoke with clarity and effectiveness the characteristics of the war of '15-'18. Eugenio Baroni won the race and managed to satisfy the tender requests but, having failed, he never saw the end of the work that was completed by Publio Morbiducci.
impressive monument with impressive figures, absolutely worth seeing, also for photographers!
