Trip Planner: Europe / Italy / Piedmont / Province of Turin / Sant'Ambrogio di Torino / Sacra di San Michele
Admire the marble "Porta dello Zodiaco," a 12th-century masterpiece, at Sacra di San Michele. Until recent times, skeletons of dead monks were visible at this large religious complex atop of Mount Pirchiriano. You can still walk up the Stairway of the Dead, which is flanked by arches and tombs. Explore the grounds of the Romanesque church and discover ruins from a monastery and an ancient church. After the winding drive to this area, you'll need to take a short, steep walk up from the parking lot. You must wear modest clothing to enter; you can borrow a shawl to cover your shoulders. Our Sant'Ambrogio di Torino trip itinerary planner makes visiting Sacra di San Michele and other Sant'Ambrogio di Torino attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

For those who want to enter the property you must pay a ticket (8 euros) and usually there is a guide for explanations. The visit to the resort takes approximately an hour and, in addition to the work of art itself, you can enjoy a breathtaking view from the terrace overlooking the entire Susa Valley. The historical complex of the sacred is imposing and majestic, you are immersed in a mystical atmosphere linked to his past. Also recommended for families and walkers in the surrounding nature with its trails and woodlands. (visited in February 2018)
Premetto che sono contentissimo di essere venuto a visitare questo luogo, arroccato su uno sperone di roccia al principio della val di Susa. This is an almost "magical" so well kept and with a system of interactive guides which I really appreciated. All very interesting and worthy of a careful visit, which does not require big time. The problem is that I came here with high expectations, listening comparisons for example with Mont Saint Michel in France, that honestly do not take (I was there last summer). But, if you're over there, go for it. It's worth it.

Prime di salire in ... more »On Mount Pirchiriano, about 962 metres high, the symbol of the Piedmont region at about 45 km west of Turin, stands this impressive religious construction. First to climb by car or on foot along the mule track (more than an hour and a half walk for the fit), read the legends that surround this place magical to say the least, as ' magical ' is one of the designations of the city of Turin, whose province the sacred part including such as via san Michele's magic, and so forth, as a kid I started mountain biking from Turin North to reach this place beautiful and was soaked in Turin, not tired, more, I recommend to elicit in others the same emotions.
Absolutely outstanding place. Part of the older portion of the basilica still stands to the side of the main building, which has been built expertly into the rock face. This was one of the most constantly amazing parts of the basilica. The architecture is breathtaking, as are the views. A beautiful place to visit, for the non-religious as well as believers. Don't miss it.
One hell of a view, really beautiful and relaxing. You could totally see everything from above. The road to it though is a little bit narrow so be careful if you wanna visit.
One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, certainly worth a visit. It's a unique place, that has over a 1000 years of history to tell.
Beautiful place. Beautiful view. It is sweaty to climb but well worth it.
Beautiful monistary on the top of a hill. Be warned, its closed between 12h30 and 14h30!
