Trip Planner: Europe / Italy / Piedmont / Province of Turin / Sant'Ambrogio di Torino / Sacra di San Michele
Admire the marble "Porta dello Zodiaco," a 12th-century masterpiece, at Sacra di San Michele. Until recent times, skeletons of dead monks were visible at this large religious complex atop of Mount Pirchiriano. You can still walk up the Stairway of the Dead, which is flanked by arches and tombs. Explore the grounds of the Romanesque church and discover ruins from a monastery and an ancient church. After the winding drive to this area, you'll need to take a short, steep walk up from the parking lot. You must wear modest clothing to enter; you can borrow a shawl to cover your shoulders. Our Sant'Ambrogio di Torino trip itinerary planner makes visiting Sacra di San Michele and other Sant'Ambrogio di Torino attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

Sacra di San Michele Reviews
Visitato dopo tanti anni, questo luogo fantastico, sempre affascinante e intrigante. La vista è impagabile. Gita consigliatissima. more »Visited after so many years, this fantastic place, always fascinating and intriguing. The view is priceless. Highly recommended tour.
Sito valido sia dal punto di vista storico monumentale che panoramico. Poco adatto per chi ha problemi di deambulazione vista la salita a piedi di 800m con finale rampa di scale. Proprio per questo, l... more »Valid site both from the standpoint of historical monuments. Unsuitable for those with walking difficulties given the uphill walk of 800 m with a final flight of stairs. For this reason, the early closure of half an hour of the scheduled should be written in large letters and not with two lines lost amidst the rest, since the stand area, avoiding effects mockery who, planning to be on time, pay for parking and it makes a nice walk. Paid parking ok, but why min 2 hours? Not to mention gridlock for motorcycles, a few with the same digits of a camper.

Nice guide although didn't say a lot about the structure itself ... more stories ... definitely interesting. I have to go back.
Perfect place for a comfy walk, or for those a bit lazy you can get to the very top by car. Pro tip: take some picnic accessories since there are terraces which are just made for that and you will see many Italians doing so on the weekend.
Places like this Sanctuary make you wonder how 100s or years ago humanity was able to create such mesmerizing monuments in such harsh locations. An amazing place which is worth visiting.
This is one of the most beautiful place around Turin. It's a must see!
Must see this beautiful piece of history
Astonishing: the combination of such a massive ancient building and wonderful surrounding landscape, especially when the weather is good and one has a full view of the mountains and valley around, is simply breathtaking!
