Nearly 2,000 years old, Pantheon is the only building from the Greco-Roman world that has remained substantially intact and in continuous use throughout its long history. A marvel of ancient architecture, it still boasts the world's largest unreinforced concrete dome. Originally designed to be a temple to all the gods of the ancient Rome, the site has been used as a Roman Catholic church, dedicated to St. Mary, since the seventh century. The building features large, granite Corinthian columns. Don't skip this site if it's raining; seeing and hearing the rain pouring into this ancient building through the hole in the ceiling is a special experience. Iconic. Amazing place. Possibly the best place I visited in Rome. Free to enter as it's still a working Church. From the outside is big, "round" and imposing concrete. Inside it's detailed, colourful and instills a need for quiet. Originally a Roman Temple it was dedicated to numerous god's (hence the name) and holds the body of Raphael. There are audio and video points (couple of euros) which give a good overview of the place.

Smaller than I thought but still quite beautiful monument. I wouldn't have made the effort to go there for this specifically if I knew. Could be visited as part of a nice shopping round. The area is good for shopping anyway. Took nice pictures.
