Ponte Coperto, Pavia

4.3
#1 of 95 in Things to do in Pavia
Must see · Bridge · Tourist Spot
Since Roman times, a bridge has stood over the Ticino river at this spot--Ponte Coperto itself was built in 1949 when Allied bombing destroyed the previous one, dating from 1354. Today, the covered brick and stone arch bridge is a great place to take in the sights of Pavia away from the crowds. A chapel stands on the bridge, just as it has since medieval times.
