Se si riesce ad arrivare a Manarola con l’auto, la prima cosa che si incontra, al termine del sentiero che conduce dal parcheggio al paese, è proprio la chiesa di San Lorenzo costruita nel 1338 dalle ... more »If you manage to get to Manarola by car, the first thing you meet, at the end of the path that leads from the parking lot to the village, is the church of San Lorenzo built in 1338 by the people of Manarola and Volastra and dedicated at the beginning to the Virgin Mary. The beautiful rosette dates back to 1375. Fun fact: the bell tower is placed in front of the church and was erected on the remains of a watchtower.
A good spot to view the village. But to have a good view of the clock tower of the church, you need to climb the hill towards the left before the church.
The Church has a gothic-style façade, with a typical rose window, dating back to 1338 and consists of 3 naves. The bell tower, detached from the church, always dates back to the Fourteenth century and was built detached from the Church, on the side facing the sea, in fact was used as watchtower. In a few minutes from the church you reach the small port of Manarola
