Villa Olmo, Como

#4 of 103 in Things to do in Como
Architectural Building · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
Built in 1797 as a summer retreat for the aristocracy, and named for an elm that once stood at the heart of the gardens, Villa Olmo is now property of the municipality of Como. Neoclassical in style, the villa is only open during exhibitions, though the lakeside gardens are open to the public at all times. Enjoy a drink at the open-air bar in the garden, or relax on the lawns. Check online to see the schedule of events and exhibits. Only about 2 km (1.3 mi) from the heart of Como, it is an easy walk along the lake to get to the villa. • Beautiful villa with a spectacular view of the lake and mountain. There is a fountain and a nice garden in front of the villa.
  • A must see of Como. Very recommendable for a nice walk or picnic in its back yard. The walk from Como to Villa Olmo presents one of the most beautiful scaneries you can probably find on the lake.
