  • We have joined the "Cosimiani Paths" a series of initiatives of the City of Florence and other municipalities linked by a Medici past in honor of Cosimo di Medici. The initiative is very nice and I recommend to check on musefirenze.it the program "500 Cosimo and Caterina". Initiative, also, free, which does not hurt. Our escorts have been kind and exhaustive and Arezzo amazes with its beauty, which, undeservedly, is somewhat overshadowed by other Tuscan cities. The ramparts are interesting and mirror of a troubled era but nothing more, instead the Piazza Grande and the palaces that overlook it have a beauty, elegance and simplicity that enchants. The city park next to the Cathedral is as unusual as it is precious. Now the sore notes. During our visit we were joined by a lady who, on behalf of an association of aretine guides, expressed her disappointment that the initiative run by the municipality did not refer to local guides but to staff of a structure not authorised for this type of activity in Arezzo. So far so good if she had expressed dissent in a civilized way, but the girl, who said her name was D.ssa Milena Callegari, started squealing to make a polemic as unpleasant as it was inappropriate. Screaming behind "good abusive visit" and verbally mistreating the person who accompanied us. Great show of professionalism and education! Dulcis in fundo. had given us a false name! It is not called as stated, at the request of one of the participants, but RACHELE FUSAI. Congratulations! It is regrettable that such a cute initiative has been interrupted by those who, while legitimately defending their work, are clearly unable to cope. Arezzo, however, is really worth a visit

  • The fortress is open to the public and partly to be visited thanks to the recently installed walkways and connecting facilities. I think there's a working elevator, too. Quite well cared for the lawns and flower pots, but there remain barriers to some routes and in front of two other elevators. Completely absent inside explanatory scoreboards of the structure and the use of the various premises, which makes it difficult to read the monument. At the exit we saw a gentleman giving explanations, but we do not know if it is a stable service and for everyone. An archaeological excavation is open inside, but it is unclear whether it has been active or abandoned for some time. Used as an exhibition space, it loses some of its charm. A disappointing overall visit to a fortress that could offer more.
