La Bollente, Acqui Terme

4.6
#1 of 29 in Historic Sites in Province of Alessandria
While in the scenic spa resort of Acqui Terme, make sure to stop by La Bollente, one of the town's centerpieces. Built in 1870 and designed to resemble a small pavilion, the fountain in the center of the old town constantly produces thermal water that's beneficial to drink or inhale the vapors. Just bear in mind that the water comes out of the fountain at a temperature of about 75 C (167 F) and it can cause burns if you touch it before it cools down. The piazza in front of the fountain is a great place to soak in the atmosphere of the town, have a meal, or enjoy the sight of steaming vapors rising from the fountain on a cool night. Acqui Terme is from Milan about a couple of hours drive and when you enter the square where the thermal spring water in The Boiling steam and 75 degrees emanating (hence the name) you remain stunned by its beauty, The large square is also home to the clock tower and the marble Aedicule. I recommend bringing your camera as there are various ideas to make great photos,

  • The Boiling is unique in itself, to the sulphurous thermal water among the best in the world. But the architectural and historical context around is at his level, with good urban decor and a beautiful historic old behind!
